German conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler once described Frick as "'the blackest bass in Germany", refering to the dark color of his voice and to how deep and secure his voice was. Frick was a wonderful bass. This is one of the best versions of this aria I've heard, The aria is from Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
