Boxes of jar lids arrive by the pallet load. The MOTOMAN robot uses a vision system to "see" which way around the taped seam on each box is positioned, then the robot can take the box and cut correctly along the seam to decant the jar lids which are then fed into a singulation unit that feeds into the bottling line.

After decanting the lids, the robot takes the empty box and uses a simple system of poles to break open the other seam and flatten the box into a palletised stack of empties for recycling.

Lastly the robot takes the plastic liner used inside the box to a bin for more recycling.
