    Good point, but in fairness, it is a fun name with a lot of rhythm. I find myself calling him simply "Obama", despite being a big supporter, because of its conversational flow (though perhaps partly to mock those who use last-name-only derisively).

    One might compare it to the snideness by which one may call the previous president simply "Bush" or "George". In that case I think it's a combination of being both a very common name and a one-syllable word that makes it stinging.
