Recognizing Quebec as a nation - is this sensible or even popular policy? This video highlights some of the late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's quotes & writings on the idea of Quebec as a nation and nationalism in general. It is a response to the Quebec Nation resolution which delegates will be debating and voting on at the upcoming liberal leadership and policy convention. The frontrunning candidates in the race are Gerard Kennedy, Stephane Dion, Bob Rae, and Michael Ignatieff.

and try to make it possible to work and live in french in one part of north america

Québecois watch more of their own television then american t.v. especially for the news.

Québecois even watch more their own movie them american blockbuster.

Québecois are more in too collectiv right then individual right.

Quebec are more social democrat then Canada.

Québec use the code civil instead of common law.

Of course you could had the usual Québec suck Canadian backslashing

  • "Nationalism will have to be discarded as a rustic and clumsy tool." This completely contradicts various other statements in your video which exault the concept of "Canada". Replacing patriotism/loyalty from "Québec" to "Canada" does not stop nationalism. Nationalism would, in such a senario, simply evolve.

  • Le parti québecois obviously does not speak on the unanimous behalf of all people of that province. Likewise neither the Liberal party nor the Conservatives truely speak for all of the people of Candia.

"his dream of Canada was 'one nation -- one country'" The politics of Levesque could be catagorised into exactly the same catagory if you replace Canada with Québec.

  • "We must never become a ... have always dreamed of" It was teh Canadian government, not le govenrment québecois which defined les québecois as a nation. If you want to blame anyone, blame the federal government, whose repsonsibility it is ultimately.
