I'm not sure if it has been stated before, but to get that hole at the top you should wrap the mallet slightly off center. Not too much or the yarn will just slide off the core. Also was that a home-made marimba you were playing on at the end?!

@JUSTONEEEE Correct on both accounts! I can't remember if "wrapping off center" has been mentioned before but if not, it should have!
And there is a link to my home made marimba in the video description. I built it has a high school student because I had money for either a car or marimba. Of course I picked the car and built the marimba.
