I've been thinking about this video for a little while now, since I personnally think that DiDonato is the best Rosina around these days. So here is a compilation of "Una voce poco fa" from her past performances. I hope you'll enjoy it :)

I have seen her Rosina many times, and I always marvel that the embellishments are different each time. She is the best Rossini singer since Horne (sorry Miss Bartoli) and should keep on singing Rossini. Those runs, trills - truly amazing. In June she will do Elena in Donna del Lago in Paris - another Rossini treat for everyone who can attend!

I really wish I can get a ticket to see her as Elena. I will be in Paris for her recital anyway, and if I manage to find a seat... Her Tanti affetti in her Colbran CD is AMAZING. I would be mad to miss it!

Single tickets to the Donna Del Lago go on sale online later this spring. BUT they do have "gala" tickets on sale now for June 24. I got two of these last month (about 125 euros each). Not that much to get to hear three Rossini superstars! Of course only God knows what the production will be like - hopefully not the usual Eurotrash. I heard the Barber again in LA and she and Florez make it fresh each time they do it together - I hope she never stops singing it.

And of course her Rosina is amazing. Paired with Florez, there´s simply no word to describe it. You´re lucky to have been able to see them!

Love Joyce, but she really needs to retire this role. Maybe it will force the major opera houses to cast her in something else for a change.

I kinda agree and disagree at the same time. It's true, she sings this role way too much (or the others too scarcely), but I don't want her to stop singing Rosina, she's the best around! More Elvira, Cherubino, Dejanira or Octavian would be much appreciated though ^^

yes, i'll always cherish the memories of her Rosina (thank alla for two DVDs) and she's repeated Octavian, is NOW reviving Sr. Helen Prejean in Houston, and will do Cendrillon @ ROH). i think her artistic curiosity is too great for her to repeat and repeat roles, even though i'd love to hear her a few more times in some of them. The great Sills - who had an artistic mind like DiDonato's - repeated many roles dozens of times, and the performances ALWAYS varied hugely.

There are "GALA" tickets on sale right now for June 24. In the performance listing, click on June 24, and an order form comes up. They are a little higher than the regularly priced, but reasonable. Then they send you a confirmation - pick up tickets in the Garnier lobby the 24th. Then you can work on air fare and hotel!
