Ship for World Youth (SWY) Canada Promotional Video

The Ship for World Youth program is an opportunity for youth around the world to see the world the way youths from other countries see it. Roughly 140 youth from Japan and 140 youth from various other regions come together for an experience that promotes friendship and mutual understanding between youth from across the globe that have shown leadership and initiation in their own communities. International cooperation and leadership are promoted and practiced aboard the Ship for World Youth. The international awareness of participants is broadened and their capability of playing leading roles in sectors of their societies is developed.
The Government of Japan organizes, plans, finances the Ship for World Youth. Canada and other countries from all over are invited to send a delegation to join the program. After the delegates arrive in Japan, they stay with a family within Japan as they experience what life is life for their host family in a country that is foreign to him/her.
Our delegates are expected to act as representatives of Canada and to share the view of Canadian youth on a range of issues. They will present Canada's culture, history and values, and participate in a variety of discussions and seminars. On the ship, participants from a diverse range of countries will be eating, sleeping, working, and living side-by-side. This offers many opportunities for improving cultural understanding, learning the principles of international cooperation, and also provides an atmosphere for individual personal growth.
