@gotnowt Usually these engines are only used for situations when it's difficult to reach the airport. To avoid landing out, you cant take off or gain altitude with them. However some gliders has a powerfull engine so that you can takeoff yourself. No PPL needed just a glidning licence.

How does the weight effect the gilder? i would like to see it in the flesh. Because of the engine, do you need a PPL?
