I saw Tim Moore live in the late 70's. He opened for somebody. I forget who he opened for, but I remember him. His original is the best version of this song. I Love it.
Such a great song. A bright spot in the otherwise draggy mid '70s. Used to hear this on the radio a lot then. A crime that this guy did not become a huge star -- while so many mediocre musicians did. Check out Burning Photographs by Ryan Adams for a recent artist with a similar feel.
Keith Richard loved this record so much, he lifted the riff and stuck it into the Stones version of "Just your Imagination" on the Steel Wheels album. I used to sit with Keith as he played this record over and over again in '76
I love Tim and he is in my belief the most under-rated and under appreciated singer songwriter and musician in the history of popular music, Almost every song on his first album should have made the top 10 but didn't A gross miscarriage of justice. My good friend John Wicks of The Records does a very compellingly good version of Rock and Roll Love Letter as well. Check it out - The Records as well should have been huge but weren't. "F" the music business execs for the wrong they have done..
Listen for great music like this on a new radio station called "OffTheCharts" - featuring 70's (and some 80's) lost hits and chart wonders!

Has anyone got When You Close Your Eyes from the Tim Moore debut album? Would love to hear that.
