Although the sequences are slightly off in this video clip, essentially the difference between original Uechi and OkiKuKai Shohei Ryu is that in Shohei Ryu you complete the moves and bunkai in one direction before executing the next sequence.

  • I would absolutely love to learn this form of seisan. I'm only familiar with Isshinryu seisan.

  • @mirekcerny i see technique in this Kata not explored..grappling and joint locking but i studied Ryukyu Kempo\tuite jitsu

  • @voimaapina

yes, this is former uechi in new name. 'cause UECHI is family name, property of uechi family, so they named it shohey ryu...

  • is this a new karate style? looks very much uechi-ryu

  • A very good question, I totally agree! Although looks like not many people here appreciate such questions :)

  • Interesting...in Uechi, after the groinstrike, the one performing the application doesn't block forward, but turns and blocks his opponent's hand down after the strike.

  • I sometimes wonder why would somebody create a kata with such simplistic and seemingly unrealistic applications built in. I always considered the creators of kata extremely gifted fighters - why wouldn't they pass some more effective techniques to the future generations?
