I have been working in Bishopsgate for one year and have come to love this area, especially Spitalfields Market. I particularly enjoy the new designers, sole traders and the Antique market.
These are snaps taken in my lunch hour.Unfortunatley some parts of the photos are cut off when uploading to YouTube. The Ten Bells sign is missing, built in 1752 and famous for being the pub where victims of Jack the Ripper drank.
Some of the daily sights that I enjoy are the Gherkin building, 30 St Mary Axe built in 2004. It looks so dramatic and tall, like a blue cloured glass missile reaching into the sky. Also the magnificent Christ Church with its beautiful interior, built between 1714 and 1724. A treasured landmark dubbed as the St Paul's Cathederal of the East End. A welcoming sight is the smiling face of the man standing patiently outside Liverpool Street Station every afternoon selling Big Issue.
Favourite times this year include Watching Brushball at Broadgate Ice Rink, the daily Alternative Fashion Shows at Spitalfields Market and sitting outside the Ten Bells on a Sunday morning, sipping beer in the blazing sun listening to the bells of Christ Church and watching the world go by.
