@tea42kb (Correction: at that point, it was still Fascism in Spain, but you get the idea.)

"All mankind destroyed because of a chicken's heart."
OK, class. It's 1937, and this show comes on. There's solid evidence of fascism and then some in Germany, socialism in Spain, and Communism in Eastern Europe. Why did Oboler choose a "Chicken Heart" in particular? 500 - 800 words. Spelling counts.

"Ate up all the cabs! The Empire State Building! The Jersey Turnpike!" I had no idea Cosby's routine had its basis in a real radio show.
-
" I warned you..... burn the building..." where's the A bomb? hmmmm can't wait 5 years... hmmmm Revenge of the chickens??......... I think little Tommy won't be sleeping so good tonight..

it's the Blob...

I smeared Jello on the floor! I set the sofa on fire!!! YOU'RE NOT GONNA LIKE JELLO AND SMOKE AND FIRE, CHICKEN HEART!!!
For two years after, my Dad would call people in off the street... "Hey, wanna see my stupid kid? He broke my arm and burnt a hundred dollar sofa all over a stupid THUMP THUMP, THUMP THUMP!"
Cosby rules!

Probably because we had our lights off.

Lights Out was revitalized several times on radio, using the original scripts. In his story, Cosby claims that he was 7 years old when he heard the program. It was on Saturday nights and his parents for the evening. It was also on about 10 p.m., way past this bedtime. The year would have been about 1947-48. Unfortunately, only part of the original program exists on a recording although the script can be found in entireity on Simply Scripts website.

I can't believe this is REAL! I used to listen to Bill Cosby records with my mom and dad when I was a kid. "The Chicken Heart" was one of the funniest routines in my dad's record collection. This is actually pretty chilling stuff! Back when entertainment engaged the imagination.
