The whole idealistic approach to Iraq is bullshit. I think McClellan maintains it as the last remnant of an excuse for having acted as the mouthpiece of liars. There were clearly economic interests factored into the decision to invade Iraq. The Bush administration's initial reluctance to let other countries participate in the bidding of contracts until they realized they needed their help against the insurgency as well as the no-bid contracts granted to Halliburton and others are proofs of that.
