Test flight of Vulcan XH558 at RAF Cottesmore, England, on 16th April 2008. Take off and three low passes observed. Starboard undercarriage door locked down, air test abandoned, and returned to base at Bruntingthorpe.
What really gets me is people blaming Harold Wilson for the cancellation of the TSR-2. He was only directing funds and manpower towards the development of the Concorde with France, what turned out to be, in hindsight, a good judgement, I think.
Most impressive plane ive ever seen , there is nothing else like the Vulcan . The first time i saw it was when i was at Wittering , i was walking to my car when the whole world began to vibrate . I looked up and saw the Vulcan going vertical and then finnish off a whole loop da loop . Being this was my first experience of a Vulcan i froze to the spot , and not knowing what it could do thought it was going to crash . It didnt im glad to say but it left me in awe , amazing plane
Pre-Concord Rolls Royce Olympus engines in action here. Valiants started falling out of the sky with super-premature airframe failure, but the Vulcan was sound and tested.
