Disney's The Princess and the Frog FIRST Official Review by FotFF

I managed to get into an advanced screening last week for Disney's new animated feature the Princess and the Frog. If you're planning on checking this film out check out my spoiler free review that gives you a pretty good idea of what you will expect with this movie.

To be fair Pixar have done their jobs extremely well, but you're right Hand drawn animation was always king and seeing it in this day and age is a real treat

Thanks for the review, Fury. Now I;m psyched about seeing this film.

It's already doing pretty well with critics (yourself included), and the only negative ones I've read are the usual writers who rag on Disney and generally misinterpret their work as chauvinistic or racist

Sadly as a black man i find all this unnecessary Disney has always had elements of racism dosent mean we need to over view them everyone can take a lesson from morgan freemans race problem we wont get over it if we dont stop talking about it

but maybe was being to harsh? i mean, should we expect this to compare to beauty and the beast, the hunchback of notre dame? should we expect it to be as evolved as those films and pick up where disney left off? oh, wait, YES WE SHOULD IN EACH AND EVERY WAY POSSIBLE! not lighthearted like disney's older films. tiana isn't special. she's annoying and a buzzkill! did you not pay attention to "when we're human"? her changing her mind about love is a very rational criticism! it's done very poorly.

and the villain has nothing to do with the hero's story. take him out and you'd probably still have the frog story unaltered. yes, his VA is awesome, but he makes jafar look interesting.

after watching it, it was okay. but......

characters are given absolutely no time to develop and when tiana changes her mind about love, it's so sudden. the songs are no alan menken shit. hell, menken would spit on these lyrics if he had the chance. steven schwartz would, too. even ashman's awesome self would rise from the grave and destroy the lyrics. the music's not bad. just learn to not be predictable with these songs. dig a little deeper....let me guess.. to find out who you are? yup.

The princess and the frog is an amazing movie, although different then I thought it would be. Also, another thing I didn't expect was that Dr. Facilier was going to be so creepy! Just to prove he is creepy, I watched it at my school, and when he got done singing "Are you ready" or something like that, everyone commented 'creepy'! The music was fabulous and so was the movie! To all Disney haters, you are truely bone heads because Disney is a work of art! DISNEY RULES!
