One of the best things Canada can do to reduce poverty is come up with a poverty reduction strategy. Sounds simple, right? It is. And poverty reduction strategies have worked in many places they have been tried - the UK, Ireland, Newfoundland and Quebec. Now Make Poverty History is pushing for the federal government to come up with a nation-wide poverty reduction strategy. Learn more at www.makepovertyhistory.ca/povertyplan
But if we just substadize everyone than its not reducing poverty, its just reducing their will to be productive. I dont know what you are suggesting we do... But it seems like you want the federal government to spend money on reducing poverty.. HOW DO YOU DO THAT?! Do you give them taxpayer money? Do you bailout failing businesses, do you pay for more regulations, do you spend more money on pet projects, do you spend more money on substadized housing?! NO! It doesnt work!

What do you suggest we do? The only way that we will reduce poverty is going to be by reducing entitlement programs and stop spending money like crazy. Because we substadize people for their income levels you can live generally really well for barely any money at all in Canada. You are always eligable for a two floor townhouse, with at least two bedrooms.. If this ever struck you, you have to make a certain income level to be considered not in poverty.
