Carl Skustad of the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center does an Extended Column Test (ECT) at 2000 feet on a West aspect of Tincan in Turnagain Pass. The snowpack is 5 feet deep and rests on 1 ft. of weak faceted snow with a rain crust. Previous to doing the ECT, we got a CTH24 Q1 on a compression test that failed on top of the rain crust within the facets near the ground.
