Carl Skustad of the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center does an Extended Column Test (ECT) at 2000 feet on a West aspect of Tincan in Turnagain Pass. The snowpack is 5 feet deep and rests on 1 ft. of weak faceted snow with a rain crust. Previous to doing the ECT, we got a CTH24 Q1 on a compression test that failed on top of the rain crust within the facets near the ground.
Hey these videos are awesome, look forward to more analysis of the snowpack throughout the season, keep up the good work,it will save lifes!
