  • @burtwiseman it is fantasy movie like star wars

  • @finetubs George Godfrey supposably threw a lot of fights. This might have been one of them. I kind of question if he didn't also to Johnny Risko and Jack Sharkey. Had their not been the color barrier at the time, I wonder if he would not have been the world champion at that time. As it was, He did claim the Colored World Championship. Also I belive that Ring Magazine listed him as one of the top 100 punchers of all time.

  • IBU international boxing union was formed some where between the early 19th century and the mid 19th century, George Godfrey was the IBU heavyweight

champion in 1935. Some years later in the early 1980's boxing formed the IBF

international boxing federation heavyweight championship witch was held by the

former WBC heavyweight champion Larry Holmes in 1983. Jason Louis-Fernand. 18/11/2010.

  • both these bums considered top contenders at one time?phew

  • Just look at the ending of this fight!!!!!!!!!! lol. After Louis and Baer destroyed poor Primo he went on to fight very very bad fighters. Also, he was scared to fight little, fat Tony Galento. Galento would have reached up and knocked Primo all around the ring.

  • Hard to say if this was a fix or not but Godfrey looks like he's trying

  • Burt: Nobody could keep the details of a FIX that big until his death?? The money trail would have revealed itself earlier. Early career record padding is going on even today. Look at the current top 40 Rated Heavy's, most have 20-0 records to begin their career. I am saying Primo's later significant fights were on the level. Sure, he had shady managment but he actually had many traits I admire in boxers most like courage, stamina, and heart .

  • Burtwiseman: Unfortunately, I have read many books on this era that should be used as toilet paper. If you see Sharkey landing hard right hands trying to knock Carnera out, this does not jive with a fix in Carnera/Sharkey II. The odds were Even on the Sharkey/Carnera II fight which means a huge amount of money would have to be wagered if the fix was in?

Dimented ramblings of dieing mobsters is not proof. Look at the videos on youtube, even you have to admit they don't match the literature?

  • Fightfan: Primo was controlled by the bookmakers. They made lot's of money from him. The movie HARDER THEY FALL is a true story of Carnera.

  • Fightsfan: Owney Madden controlled Primo and on his deathbed he said that the fight was fixed. Madden fixed most of Primo's fights. He could not fix Louis or Baer. Do your homework fightfan.
