What about those with RH negative blood types? Would the same diet be beneficial for those who are A+ and A- ?
-
sorry if my question is off topic!, its just baffling to me.

hi, since becoming a donor i realized i was O Rh neg .. now this means negative to be traced to the rhesus monkey right? so if we are not evolved from a monkey .. then could you please tell me what we are evolved from or why this factor is missing... kind regards.

@virtualmedstudent i have read that only AB positive blood is the universal recipient and can take from any other blood type but AB negative cannot take from any other blood type. I read AB negative and only give blood to and recieve blood from AB positive. I would like to ask is this the truth?

@drumsweet It depends on whether or not you are talking about plasma (the non-red blood cell component of donated blood) or packed red blood cells (the purified cellular component of donated blood). People with AB positive blood are universal recipients for packed red blood cell transfusions, and they are universal plasma donors (this is because their plasma contains no antibodies, if it did they would chew up their own red blood cells!!!). Hope this helps clear things up...

I dont understand.... if blood group O is a universal donor and it has both A and B anitbodies and i give blood O to a A blood group person isnt the A antibody going to attack the A antigen on the surface of blood group A???? please help so confusing

@eckostar61 - good point! Group O is a universal RED BLOOD CELL donor only. They are not a universal plasma donor (which is where the antibodies reside). Therefore when you receive "blood" from a universal type O donor you are only receiving the red blood cells and not the plasma, which is separated during purification process. In contrast, type AB blood group individuals are universal PLASMA donors because they have no antibodies in their plasma. Hope this helps!
