Thanks so much for posting this. I just rewatched the movie Last Place on Earth as my own way of comemorating the 100th anniversary of Amundsen reaching the South Pole. This music on my mp3 player will be very inspirational while out on a hike!

The Lat Place on Earth is about the conquest of the South Pole, in Antarctica. Comically, the 5th slide is of an ice berg in the north Atlantic. How can you tell? Look at the parallel contrails of airliners overhead. That doesn't happen in Antarctica. Great film and music, though.

I sensed that in the series and in this music.

The production values of this mini-series were great, including the music. Too bad it was based on Roland Huntford's hatchet job on Scott.

This was my favorite mini-series when I was a kid. I recorded the series on VHS back in the late eighties from Masterpiece Theatre. Unfortunately the video quality is very poor. Years ago I tried to find out who was responsible for the production and get a copy but never got very far.

Also, it was about Scott and Amundsens ANTARCTIC expeditions to the South Pole.
