We're moving on with the Egg Cup, which is the first four of the middle courses in the game. In this and the following cup, the previous 8 themes you've seen--Seaside Hill, Billy Hatcher, Casino Park, Samba de Amigo, Jet Set Radio, Curien Mansion, Final Fortress, and Super Monkey Ball--return here as harder versions, with some very different locales and feel. You'll notice it right from the start, for instance, that Rampart Road is no Icicle Valley.
Now that I've explained about Billy Hatcher and Ryo Hazuki, you're probably wondering who that "Jacky & Akira" racer is who's been behind in the previous two races. They're from Virtua Fighter, a fighting game that got its start on the obscure Sega 32x system and still going strong. It was one of the first fighting games to be done on 3-D, both as polygonal characters rather than sprites and having 3-D arenas. Jacky and Akira are the Ryu and Ken of the series; it seems they've set aside their rivalry this time to have a race. The stories in the Virtua Fighter games are largely the same: Fighting tournaments. Been there, done that.
Race #3
Carnival Town
Jump Parade
Song: Bum Bum
There are a lot of All-Star Moves going on here. Oh yes, I haven't explained them up until now, have I? All-Star Moves are long, extended speed boosts where you're invincible, the game puts your racer on autopilot, and you move left and right along the track as you charge forward, attacking everything in your way. They typically show up in the last few positions, though I don't receive many of them. Think of the Bullet Bill from Mario Kart Wii, except with variations among each character. Our dynamic duo of Jacky and Akira perform one to get into the lead; Amy then pulls one of her own. While I could catch up to Jacky and Akira, I couldn't do the same with Amy. Then Tails just pulls ahead. So shameful!
Race #4
Casino Park
Pinball Highway
Song: Casino Park
Kind of reminiscent of Waluigi Pinball from Mario Kart DS, but at the same time, it feels like its own thing. As you can see, this game does a good job of giving each theme its own unique sub-theme. Except for Final Fortress. I don't understand why they couldn't have made, say, an Egg Fleet themed stage. It would've been really cool.
Sonic says... "Play GRAND PRIX to attempt to win a cup over four races." That's some wonderful advice right there.
This sucks it won't let me watch do you make all your vids slow?! :(

@sonicgamer06 You likely have an error going on. Try restarting the browser. The video works just fine for me.

@Rayquaoxys3846 Are you talking about the screen going upside-down? That's the effect of the Confusing Star.

@Th4tR4nd0mguy Yeah. There was a bit of a spectacle over that. I'll probably explain it the next time I put Roulette Road onto a video.
