  • How could you not have her wonderful entrance in this film sweeping down the staircase? Tsk tsk tsk...! One of the greatest shots of her ever. By the way, that's very nice of you tallpaul, to lay the rose... I've travelled to the States many times, been to Dallas but never Houston, but one day I will make it there to that cemetery in person. Pity there's not more footage of her being interviewed available on YouTube; several T.V. chat shows she did would be nice to see surface some day.

  • tallpaul521,forgive my effrontery for saying my thoughts will be with you when you lay that rose.

  • @HAPPYTHELEAF I'll be happy to do that. If you'd like to have me place a personal note along with the rose, I can do that. Can you send me a note by email or postal mail? When I do place the rose and the note, I will take some photos for you.

  • Nice thought, happytheleaf.A rose would be perfect.Gene and the rose are one and the same.

Nothing need be added or taken away.

  • @tallpaul521 Could you possibly lay a single rose there for me, when the sun is warm and the trees a full and green, I believe there is a marker stone where Genes last resting place is.I live a long way away and cannot as yet make the journey but hope to someday.

  • How swift the years pass and that which was real becomes but memory and how we ache for what was or might have been, there is such a fine line between making a decision for the good, only to realize all to late it was a mistake. I imagine Isabel's pain when that realization dawned left with nothing but that which was and not what could have been.

  • @levi501ism I agree ,however, and I have read the novel, it needed a big star as Genes' leading man and it is difficult to see who else it could have been and Tyrone had just returned from the war in which I believe he had been a Pilot if I am not mistaken, which would have been accepted by the cinema going public of the time I guess.

  • @levi501ism Maybe. But if you haven't read it, you can accept Tyrone for this role but Bill Murray NEVER NEVER will be Larry (1984 remake). This is really an example of micasting!
