@steamontheweb I see what you mean, it really does depend on what driver you get. I've never really really thought about it in that way before.

Thanks Bob. It's a dramatic line, but I still prefer the WSR in terms of scenery for all their incompetence in operating a timetable with a turntable.

Yes, it was all rather dramatic

Superb Mike, not many railways can beat the NYMR for steam action added to the wonderful scenery. I especially liked the opening shot of 7822 and, as others have commented, they seem to be getting the best out of her now

Thanks. That location is probably the best morning location on the line and we were extremely lucky with the sun which came out only briefly. You can guarantee that they have to work the locos hard and there is no room for pratting about as they do all to often on the GCR!

@steamontheweb What do you mean pratting about?

@RailwayFanatic92220
The GCR has only slight uphill gradients and the larger engines seldom need to work hard. This leads to a lot of 'artificial' running with periods of hard acceleration (to impress passengers or photographers) followed by cutting off. We greatly appreciate drivers 'putting something on' for us, but the overall effect for video can look unrealistic. The NYMR drivers have to work their engines hard in order to climb the gradient, so there is no room for artificial running.

Great vid, but very annoying youtube have changed the options - 360p is awful and 720p eats up too much bandwidth. I was quite happy watching videos at 480p. Hmm!

Thanks. Typical isn't it. Sometimes I think these people change things merely for the sake of change.
