Ain't it a shame that that Beijing, where that lonely Dutch machine from the spiritual homeland of workaday cycling would not so long ago have felt right at home, is coming ever more to resemble Los Angeles, Tokyo and score other of the frenetic, alienating modern cities given over to the ravages of the private automobile.
