ITV 1989 Generic - company stills

Has the opening and closing stills for each regional ITV franchisee from the 1989 generic look, with exception of TV-am (was one ever made for then?). If you wanted to see how the logo animated between the begining still and the end still, try a Youtube search as there are plenty of examples around - this is a mere summary!

This look was developed further by some companies (eg Border had a version made for Border News), some were altered, (Yorkshire changed their version to show the full chevron at the end), or simply not used (Anglia, Channel Television, Granada, Television South West, TVS Television and Ulster Television). And Grampian Television, Tyne Tees, Border and London Weekend Television reused the music/developed upon the music in later years. The music was also used and later developed upon for ITV National Weather. A Youtube search for any of these will usually yeild results.

Note: Most of these clips were found online and simply compiled into this video clip - as was the music. I claim no credit for anything!

ITV should still be regionalised, now Ofcom give them a blank cheque to STOP our local news (or to cut down on it)

The Granada one was a cock-up, the logo was not recreated correctly and Granada went back very quickly to its own idents.

Scottish used the generic logo for about a week then reverted back to its thistle

The TVS logo was based on the logo of TVS Entertainment, the holding company of Television South, which is why it doesn't resemble.

@sslaxx I dunno... I'd put the TVS one as the worst as there is no resemblance to their logo at all, that's probably why they didn't adopt it.

I thought this was just for Yorkshire Television at first cos the first thing i ever saw with this was YTV but i think this is amazing with how it was part of so many idents.

Yorkshire Television was excellent. They should have just kept it.
