  • So, was the driving for dramatic effect, or did you randomly just have a camera and whilst driving go- "I MUST RECORD MY CURRENT THOUGHTS! HUZZAH!"?

  • ...Actually, pretty much, yeah!

I carry my camera almost everywhere I go, so that helps to get such thoughts down.

  • Becareful driving while Tubing. :P I get yelled at by my subs every time I do that.

But that aside - I know what you mean. :)

  • Don't worry! I normally use a tripod and I make sure that I'm mostly looking at the road.

  • As a neuroscientist I have a hard time to see the brain as a product of design. If it was designed by a god, I would have a hard time worshiping a god that designs the second most important organ in my body in a way which I could have done better. Evolutionary it makes more sense if one considers differences between our brain and those of apes. There is a good reason why neuroscience uses primate brain for experiments in single cell recordings. If this is the work of a god, I am not impressed!

  • Hopefully in the next few weeks, I will put up a video concerning evidentialism, the epistemological claim that knowledge comes from evidence (from which moralists derive the need for acts to be based on this sort of knowledge). The justification of belief, even when as overt in a Creationist museum exhibit or talk on the existence of God, is often as obscure as it claims to be obvious. I would in all fairness say that evidentalists don't fail this test; however, they look saner in the process.

  • Mmm, videoing and driving...

To me it's even more crazy than the folks who spend their time behind the wheel phoning and texting.

As a evolutionist I would say, watch out, you are close to genetic termination as a results of obvious stupidity...

A 'Darwin' price comes to mind for the Youtube posting in which you drive your car into destruction.

  • Purdom's argument to Shermer is that both creationists and evolutionists have world views or paradigms through which facts are interpreted. Facts do not speak for themselves, and are not understood in isolation. Your world view drives the way you interpret data, that's how science works. Every area of science shows the universe to be unbelievably complex and contingent, life comprises of information and irreducible complexity which are design features.
