This is stall, he didn't have enough speed. He was only flying because of a thermal (which he flew out of). If you start in thermals you have to really make some speed by NOT letting the bottom bar go yet, hold it back.

how can you stall with a wind that strong without at least going up a few metres? don't think that's possible. but the thermals look really good. where was that exactly?

Is this the same Jenkins that used to fly Blaine Mtn near Kalispell? If so, I used to drive for you guys back in the '90's! Now I'm a H-4 instructor in southern OR...

launch hot,speed is good.asfore the speed to fly... well maybe check youre trim. but needs more speed indeed.

@dhillmjex1 There was also a crossing wind that day on launch which makes that launch site turbulent.

Yes they carry a reserve chute in case anything goes wrong.
