iPhone 4 Mount | Arkon's IPM514 car mount features their new Slim-Grip holder. It's an incredibly stylish holder, similar to what one would expect with a custom fit holder for iPhone, though it has the flexibility of a universal phone holder for iPhone meaning that it's compatible with your iPhone regardless of whether you're using a protective skin or sleeve with your iPhone. IPM514 is now available.

  • what's the difference between the 514 and 515 model? and let me confirm, the adhesive dash disc is included in both the 514 and 515 model? if this dash disc is used, i assume it's using a double sided tape? if peeled off from the dashboard, will it leave a mark? thanks!

  • @afterSHOcKsStudios

The windshield suction pedestals are slightly different. The IPM514 has a deluxe version that has one extra adjustment point for maximum vertical versatility. The dashboard disc is included with both bundles (IPM515 and IPM514). It is a 3M adhesive tape. It won't leave a mark, and can be removed fairly easily with dental floss and goo-gone. Some fading may occur around the disc as the area underneath is protected from the sun.

  • Do you think it can take phones other than the iPhone? looks generic enough to handle other types. How about the G2?

  • @FrenicX

Yes, the Slim-Grip mount works with a wide range of phones as it's designed to be universal. However, for the new G2, you'll want to get the SM514 from Arkon instead of the IPM514. The reason is that on model SM514, Arkon now includes longer support legs that specifically allow it to work with the T-Mobile G2, Motorola Droid X, Droid Incredible, and some of the other larger sized Smartphones. IPM514 does not include those longer legs.

  • Can you plug in your car charger while its in the mount?

  • @pgcj09

Certainly! The bottom support legs are adjustable left and right so you can insert most car chargers into the phone while it's in the Slim-Grip holder.

  • pure241 - Another difference between the IPM514 and the IPM515 is that the materials used in the suction are different. IPM514 uses Arkon's PVC (DeHP free) suction. Model IPM515 uses a slightly different material for the suction called TPU. Arkon developed the TPU suction cup specifically to combat the problems with PVC suction in extreme cold weather. When PVC gets hard (in the cold), it can potentially fall off. The TPU suction works great, regardless of temperature. Both are good though

  • pure241 - Though they look similar, there are some differences. IPM514 features the "deluxe Travelmount mini suction pedestal" which features a knob for vertical adjustment of the pedestal arm. The pedestal used in the IPM515 is called the Travelmount mini suction pedestal (rather than deluxe) and it does not have the vertical adjustment knob.

  • What's the difference between IPM514 and IPM515?

  • pgcj09 - Yes, since the support legs are fully adjustable, you'll have no problem inserting your iPhone's car charger in between the support legs. All buttons, ports, or other potential obstacles are avoided with the Slim-Grip holder.
