@cellardoorstop It's silly to say "always". Mike is the one who sets the tempo with the intro. And, I can't say that I haven't noticed they play faster live, but not much more than before Matt. (This song actually slows down once they settle into it.)

Mike M starts the song and as such sets the tempo. Check out the vid from Reading, McCready is even faster. I'm sure if Eddie had an issue with Matt's drumming he would address it.
To me the beauty of live music is that it's different but the same every time.
