9/11 Remembered


Do You remember .......... Do You Know ..........
Can You Recall that fateful blow ,
Have you the time ? Have you the will ?
Have you the thought to remember them still ?

Do you light a candle and pray for those who mourn ?
Or even think about the mothers and babies not yet born ?
Do you stop at a church , and bow your head in prayer ?
To think about the families , and the burden's they have to bear ?

Do you reflect on your own life and how things need to be ?
Or do you simply close your eyes , and pretend you cannot see ?
When confronted with a task , Do you get up and walk away ?
Or do you face the difficult challenges , that tend to come your way ?

Do You remember .......... Do you Know ..........
Can you recall that fateful blow ...........

Do you remember on that day that fateful attack ?
Do you remember those lives lost , those we cannot bring back ?
Do you remember the noise , the dust , the screams of terror
I wish i could take it back , but i cant , not ever

Children , Women , Men , young and old ,
Its a terrorist attack , thats what we were told ,
To shatter innocent lives apart , to divide a nation
What example are we setting for the next generation

Can you recall that fateful blow ..........

Once proud towers , standing straight and tall ,
Never did we think , we would ever see then fall
Now years on , there is still an empty space
Never can those proud towers ever be replaced

The pentegon , Oh my God ! NO !
Right near the President's Quarters , that also received a blow
What were these men thinking , what was on their mind
Why so much Killing , its love they have to find

Do You remember ..........Do You know ..........
Can you recall that fateful blow ..........

Oh My Good God ! not flight 93
Another hyjacked plane , another scream and plea
To hit the White House was their intent
But the passengers and crew put them off their scent

It landed in a field , though all lives where lost
They stopped them from hitting their target , but at a scary cost
There were brave hero's that day , we never will forget
A Golden place in heaven , thats where they are set
Its time for us to change , its time to take a stand
For what we believe in , and help this failing land

This is a poem i had composed 1 year after the attack to mark its 1st Anniversary , but never let it be heard , now to mark the 10th Anniversary i think its appropriate to let it be heard and published . Its a very personal poem as it was my deepest and most sympatetic feelings in this poem .
