The 2nd Amendment is what keeps America a republic of self-governing, free citizens. It's what keeps politicians subject to our will. And it's what results in criminals paying with their lives when they threaten our physical integrity or our property. Ours isn't a statist culture, a culture of dependence on a paternalistic, arbitrary state. We're self-reliant individuals. We also take personal responsibility to defend others and their property. Where govt has all the guns, it has all the power.
