I hadnt planned on it. They had been dropping on the other side of the ridge and were working their way northeast along the ridge top.

I thought so! - I'll bet that the video that I shot of the 747 drop at alder may be the same one- were you on the cdf crew or the strike team up there? I was down at the parking area- I was the EMT in the jeep.

This was on the dozer line just uphill and south of Alder
