This award winning short film documents a groundbreaking expedition off of the north Cornwall coast to film and satellite tag Porbeagle Sharks for the first time in the NE Atlantic. Porbeagles are critically endangered in European waters and as they grow up to 3.5 meters long and can weigh up to a quarter of a tonne they are often the source for reports of Great Whites sharks patrolling our shores. Since this film was made Porbeagles now have some protection from targeted fishing and optimistically they may be completely protected within European waters within the next few years.

my boyfriend was on flat rocks with his friend about 10 yrs ago and they were fishing for tope they pulled in something huge and my bf went down the rocks to remove the hook but it opened its mouth to reveale massive teeth then with one flick of its head it snapped a size 1.0 hook (they r pretty big) and floped back into the sea....afterward he told his dad who got a book of sharks out and managed to identify it as a portbeagle shark :O

Even if it's to release the fish after capture, I find fishing cruel ...
