There's quite a lot of underrated sax players, along with Land: Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis, Paul Gonçalves, Hank Mobley, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Clliford Jordan, Sonny Stitt, Jimmy Heath, Eddie Harris, Wardell Gray, Warne Marsh, Buddy Collette, Jack Montrose, Booker Ervin, Winton Felder, Richie Kamuka, Yusef Lateef, Gene Ammons, just to name a few.
Yes, the late Harold Land is a very underrated sax man. Check his 3 or 4 LPs with Curtis Counce on Contemporary. Some of the best jazz you'll hear. Plus of course his recordings with Clifford Brown. And some LPs with Red Mitchell etc ....!!
Exactly! I agree 100 %! I saw Tete in the mid 70s with NHOP and A.T. Heath in Cologne and it*s still in my heart! What a musician and gentleman! Just great!

Real jazz!!!
There's still no one like Tete in whole Europe, he was unique.
As to Harold Land he must be one of the most underrated tenor men in history of jazz.
Thanks so much, every clip of Tete is an important one.
