Thanks for posting this. I remember this song from my youth - playing on a Wurlitzer juke box. All of 24 records. Wow! :o)

I play this every time I play at a Nursing home in New Orleans and people of all ages love it.
Actually I add a little more swing to it than Guy.

to be more exact, I finally found that this song was recorded by the Lombardo band on March 16th 1949 and released on a 78rpm with "You Can't Buy Happiness" on the flip side. It was released a few years later on an album called "The Band Played On"

I'm not surprised it took almost 1yr before it was pressed here in Australia. Most songs seem to have taken at least 6 months for the masters to reach us. I was a little surprised that we had "Hop-Scotch Polka" pressed on the flip side, which I've posted as a video response above. I'll have to look out for "You Can't Buy Happiness" as I've never heard it!

love this version, probably from 1950-1952. It was released first on a 78rpm, then on an album entitled "The Band Played On".

Yes- mid 1950. A lot of collectors don't seem to like Guy's music, but I don't understand why. He cut some great songs, and to still be pumping out records like this 25 yrs after he started, I think he did well. He was one of a small handful of jazz/big band era artists still recording & selling records in the 50's, so that speaks for itself
