@IzzySticks each have their own way of doing things and each are vastly different in many ways i understand that. also disney whimsy is really different and miazaki whimsy. i kinda wish miazaki would do another serious film like monoke hime. though i don't care as long as he makes another. i also want to know what a video game written and directed by him would be like. i know ni no kuni's anime is from studio ghibli but he didn't write more direct the animation.
@IzzySticks i wasn't comparing the tone of the films but by what the films made me feel. how movie makes me feel determines weather or not i like it. also all three were (and still is in miazaki's case) geniuses that revolutionized animation in some or just simply made great films consistently. comparing the tone or art work. i don't think any of the recent films under the disney name have really kept up the story telling quality walter had is what i was trying to get in the beginning.
personally I love Disney and hayao miyazaki films, they (for the most part) have a whimsical nature to them that all ages can enjoy. I loved paprika, it was fun and interesting... but without a doubt it has a more mature tone to it.
But I found it distasteful to try and compare this movie to Disney works based on a lack of knowledge and assumptions.
@IzzySticks who in their right mind even begin to compare his animation to disney's well unless were talking about walter disney then i guess thats a different story. miazaki is closer to satoshi Kons caliber. but yeah i agree each has its own flavor and style so all three are really great.
maybe you should research this movie. Time magazine listed this movie under the best 25 animated films ever made. Paprika was based off a novel written by Yasutaka Tsutsui (my gosh, based off a novel? Sounds a bit like Disney doesn't it?). And the little guy? You mean SONY ENTERTAINMENT? I'm pretty sure that's not the little guy.
The only Disney film I know of that has any connection to Japanese stories is The lion king.
got this on dvd a fantastic movie :)
