Afghan National Army soldiers with 1st Kandak, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps, and Marines with 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, patrol through the Nawa district to promote confidence in Afghan security. The security forces participating in the 30-mile, four-day patrol heard gunfire in the distance on the first day. ANA soldiers and Afghan Local Police aided by Marines patrolled several hundred meters into the desert to contact the enemy and provide security for local residents. The insurgents fled once Coalition forces arrived at their position and the patrol through Nawa continued. Video by Cpl. Jeff Drew. 11.04.2011
