  • btw why was Thierry waving at the Benetton in 2'17"? was Nannini or Piquet a lap down or what?

  • He was waving at Pirro because he didn't let him to overtake (under blue flag)

  • I'm Boutsen on F1 2011 btw :)

  • @tsubasamkds Pirro was told to hold up Boutsen because Nannini was closing on him. It was terribly obvious and today it would have earned Pirro a penalty.

  • So sad to hear what happened with those marshalls in Le Mans '81 but not Thierry's fault of course, just one of those freak things that can happen in motor sports.

This is a really good tribute to a top driver.

  • Great driver, i was a fan when I was a kid:)

  • THIERRY BOUTSEN:ARROWS(1983-1986),BENETTON(1987-1988),WILLIAMS(1989,1990),LIGIER(1991-1992),JORDAN(1993)

  • Un ottimo pilota,ha corso contro Senna,Prost,Mansell,Piquet,e ha fatto la sua figura lo stesso.

  • One of the most underrated Formula 1 drivers of all time, if Williams had kept him rather than Patrese instead of him ending up at Ligier, he could well have been a championship contender in 1991/1992

  • I was so happy when he got his first win. And that drive at the Hungaroring against Senna was so spectacular.

  • great tribute !!

Yes, he could even have won races in 1988 had Benetton opted to stay with their V6turbo engine from the previous season. Unfortunately they opted to switch to the normally aspirated V8 a bit too early. McLaren's Gordon Murray admitted they couldn't believe there luck when they heard Benetton wouldn't use the v6turbo for the 1988 season.
