I get requests for tips on front end noise all the time and many times I suggest checking the stabilizer links particularly if you have a rattle when going over bumps. It just so happened I had this very problem with my own car and decided to make a video, she's all quiet now and corners like a dream, well corners very well considering it's a toaster.

  • hey eric, i got a 91 accord, and im thinking the bushings are shot on the stabalizer bar, the front for sure they're not even hardly there anymore, but i want to make for sure thats my problem, when i get up to 50 mph and if u turn the car seems to float really bad, i dont know if its just these bushings or a bigger problem

  • @B4DH4cK3r They could contribute but tires play a big part in how a car handles, I know that those Hondas really like their Michelins, run anything else and they just don't drive the same. Also check your tire pressures to make sure they are correct.

  • Could sway bar links be causing a rattling problem when going over bumps? Thanks Eric.

  • @iloveheavymetal1 Yes they could be, see the video I did on diagnosing suspension noises.

  • @EricTheCarGuy Yeah ive seen that, still cant find it though :/ haha. thanks anyway mate.

  • @iloveheavymetal1 Sometimes a buddy or a chassis ear is the best way to nail down the tricky ones.

  • My endlinks are the same kind as this video. Eric, my question to you is, since the endlinks can move a certain way, are they suppose to be hard wiggle it while mounted on the sway bar or easy to wiggle?

  • your car is seriously rusted

  • sorry eric, i made my comment before watching the whole video, please dis-regard. lol

  • i did a LOT of honda stuff in mich. looks like you have a fellow northern car. Heat has always been my friend. great stuff, keep it up, stay DIRTY!

  • where's hondas official part website? Thank you

  • Hey Eric, I'm trying to work on my wife's 03 Element, which is making a persistent rattling sound in the rear. It fluctuates a bit with road bumps, and once you get up to highway speed, you don't as much, mostly because of the road noise. I'm thinking rear suspension. Do you think it's as easy as replacing the struts, or should I have my mechanic take a look at it?

  • I have heat and air. My 97 Boxster sways from the rear like crazy when going over 60 MPH (mostly going over even a little bump on the highway but drives normal when turning). I changed the sway bar bushings using a small ratchet. That took care of the play in the sway bar, but didn't fix the problem. Do you think that I should replace the links as well? I don't see any play in the links though. I LOVED every moment of this video. Very thorough and informative.

    Thanks for sharing Eric!

  • @EricTheCarGuy Thanks eric i shall give that a try.
