That description is stupid and wrong. Beethoven didn't even name the song, it was just titled Piano Sonata #14 in C minor. It wasn't until after his death that it was named "Moonlight Sonata" by a music Critic who said he could vision Moonlight reflecting off of Lake Lucerne
