Shan State used to be autonomous (ruled by it's own people) but now the Burmese are shrinking it and destroying the Tai (Shan) people. They are related to the Thai of Thailand and Laos people of Laos. In Thailand they are called the Thai Yai.

Correct, Shan state has lost a lot of area to Burma and Wa State during many years of fighting. The only is secure is next to Thai border.
I could only wish Thailand would annex Shan State and give them autonomy

Shan State is sandwich between Thailand and Burma, but Burma is trying to annex it. Shan people are not Burmese, they are Tai ethnic which related to Thai, Lao, Lue, Zhuang and many more Tai family ethnic
