@MrDejavu2u Why do you have so much hatred? Respect the fact people like his music, if you don't that's fine.But don't hate. And actually his parents didn't buy him a studio. One of his friends heard his early solo stuff when he was 13, liked it and offered to record him, he admits his early stuff (such as Water is awful) I still enjoy it (well some of it). Then Mike Mogis heard it and recorded him on an old 8 track. Saddle Creeks Records was then formed. Get facts straight before being a dick.

@plantingcave you're right, that doesn't make him gay. It just means every studio, that heard his demo knew it sucked, so his mommy & daddy footed the bill, to make him a studio, so he could put out what he thought was music, anyway; But for his parents, NO Conor Oberst...nuff said

in my humble opinion... i dont think its less gritty at all. maybe more pure. not trying so hard to be clever. nothing wrong with being more upbeat... they say as you grow older you grow more cynical. good for you conor for seeing the light!!!!
