Jesus was rejected because he spoke of new things not from the Old Testament. The very ones who murdered him were the religious leaders who blindly stood to their beliefs. They even memorized the contents of it and recited it everyday. "New wines must be poured into new wineskin". If a messiah will come now you would be most likely to reject him. Try John 16:12,13.
