Officials from Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced some changes to its Bing search engine on Thursday, at an event in San Francisco. Bing has been revamped to include integration with its social network partner Facebook; improved map features for malls, museums and other large venues; check-in functionality for Facebook, Foursquare or Windows Live Activity Stream; and Bing Vision. Bing Vision allows users to hold an object in front of a computer's camera, which will look at the text on the object and determine a search based upon the words it sees. Satya Nadella, senior vice president of Microsoft online services division, said in a blog post, "The core of our work addresses the fact that the Web is getting more complex and faceted--not less, We are building new technologies that help Bing figure out what people like you are trying to do, and match that with the right experiences to help get things done." Shares of Microsoft are trading 0.15% higher Thursday afternoon at $27.89.
