Richard Dawkins interviews Peter Singer for "The Genius of Charles Darwin", the Channel 4 UK TV program which won British Broadcasting Awards' "Best Documentary Series" of 2008. Buy the full 3-DVD set of uncut interviews, over 18 hours, in the RichardDawkins.net store: http://richarddawkins.net/store/index...

This footage was shot with the intention of editing for a television program. What you see here is the full extended interview, which includes a lot of rough camera transitions that were edited out of the final program (along with a lot of content).

22:00 - The Dawkins infanticide quote, Watch from here onwards to gain context, and to understand the philosophical questions being asked, very dangerous ground to tread yet beneficial.

When Richard says 'Strictly morally I see no objection to infanticide at all' he is refering to the child being terminated for its sake of suffering, from an empathic point of view in which suffering is a horrible thing (and it is) which is the context of the discussion they are having if you watch this whole.

Humans have a higher level of awareness than animals the pain we feel is more severe than theirs. Infact i have heard that animals arnt actually aware that they are in pain. But this does not condone animal cruelty whatsoever.

There are still hundreds of millions of slaves making our lifestyle possible. Most people are aware of this, and they defend it in the same way as they would have at any stage in history, i.e. they say they personally don't approve but there's nothing they can do and that the economy would collapse if we all went fairtrade. I think we really need to have a serious 'consciousness-raising' effort to remind people any time someone refers to the 'abolition of slavery'.

If a torn body cannot sustain life, it won't, it'll die naturally why stick your dirty judgemental hand and intervene? What is your fascination with killing, ending life, you blood thirsty assholes? the scenario you described sounds like a roadkill situation, ever seen a roadkill like that went on to survive? Besides, pain and suffering is a subjective experience. get it? No. Yea, I didn't think so.
