damn you need to ditch that SSQV, all i heard was compressor surge
mikexima 3 years ago
The noise that you hear between shifts is actually air coming out of the BOV. Seems like surge, but put your hand next to it, quite a bit of air comes out. The whistle noise doesn't really sound until you got a couple psi of boost behind that. Besides, the last BOV this car had started to leak boost beyond 8psi. Car pushes between 12-13psi.

i wasnt talking about that. at idle, it didnt sound like it was venting at all, specially when you got on the gas, i heard mad compressor surge. check my vids for proper venting. SSQV is designed for a turbo not a SC. get tial or vortech

At idle the BOV is closed, but there really isn't enough air moving to cause issues. Between 1200-3000rpm the whooshing/jet like noises is attributed to the CAI that leads into the S/C. The fluttering is the bov opening and closing as vaccum alone can't keep this BOV open. Is there surge, yes, but not as much as you think. A BOV serves the same purpose no matter the type of application, supercharging or turbocharging.

on a SC setup, you want it to vent at idle, and you would be surprised to see how much air actually comes out. to me it sounds like you are getting lots of compressor surge at idle. either way, its your setup, just thought id save you a blower rebuilt. good luck

Same blower for over 5 years and roughly 50k miles. :) Thanks either way, glad to see someone looking out. :)
