Whoa, my ex boyfriend did this. He was a notorious escapee and bank robber in the late 80s- early 90s. (I'm a lot younger than he is so I dated him after 17 years in jail). The cop stuck his finger behind the trigger so my boyfriend could not pull it. I asked him why he did it and he just said "It was him or me with 30 years of my life about to be taken away". I asked "but what if he had a family, children?". He just said "Same thing". Luckily no one was hurt.
