SCBR: Braveheart

***Update***

We lost Braveheart on 11/24/08 due to a hereditary vascular disease. The vet saw signs of blood clots in his legs from his trauma, and poor circulation. We miss our shelter mascot dearly, and hope his memory will live on through our work with other unwanted and abused birds.

Braveheart is an african grey parrot that came to the Second Chance Bird Rescue from a very mean and abusive owner. Among other nasty things, the guy put Braveheart on a hot stove and burned off his feet.

Braveheard now lives at SCBR in a sideways cage, with flat perches and a nice warm cushion to sleep on. He is the shelter's mascot and holds a special place in all our hearts.

I'm SO sorry to hear that Braveheart has passed on to the Rainbow Bridge.

Just as Alex The Grey before him, Braveheart will live on in our thoughts and our hearts.

Though i never had any birds in my life but when i sees injured bird on yhe street, i will also tries my best to help them. Yet, this owner is doing such cruelty to his pet bird. I strongly feels laws terms should be imposed heavily on animals abuser, otherwise this people are never scared to take in a second or third one to abused. Hunt this sicko and give him a good hard one.

Why did the original owner treat him like that? What the hell is wrong with people, that poor bird! I would rip the owners head off and shit down his neck if I seen him treat any animal like that! I love my African grey, and his life is worth more than the previous owner of Braveheart. God this shit pisses me off!

I wish God had made it to where people could feel what they inflicted on others. Like if you hurt an animal on purpose you feel just what they feel.

I don't understand the minds of some people. Its really sad.
