Malaysia's multi-cultural character has meant that it is a country where racial tension is not unknown.

And that is the subject of a Malaysian play - one of the highlights of a world theatre festival in Brisbane.

In Malaysia, the emotions aroused by "Parah" were so intense, that when it was added to the school curriculum in 2010, outrage erupted.

Kathy McLeish went along to meet the cast of this production.
