I agree with most of his views on immigration reform including the learning of english since it is the language of commerce and we MUST secure our borders. But I do not agree with the amnesty everyone that came here illegally should be deported and made to apply to citizenship the same way any other foreigner would have to.

One thing that I don't understand is why you still call the United States "America", for your information "America" is a continent, I was born in Mexico and am still an American, am now a citizen of the United States and is not making me more "American" than the rest of the continent, Italians, Germans, Spaniards, they all are Europeans.
So for your information, Mexicans, Salvadorians, Brazilians, are Americans.

yeah i think the modern use of the word is twisted a bit. American refers to the continent. They should be using "Citizen", or " Citizen of the United States".

What you have to remember is that most U.S. Americans are lazy. and its easier for us to just say Americans. I personally have never met a Mexico born Mexican that calls himself American. they have all called themselves Mexican. It just the same as if i went to England and decided to become a citezen over there.(If its even possible) I would still call myself American. so when it comes to the American meaning Citizen of the U.S.A it just understood that your are meaning someone from the U.S.

The continents themselves are actually North and South America, collectively referred to as the Americas. When the U.S. was settled, they were breaking away from Britain; the colonies formed a constitution and adopted the collective name The United States of America. This name was chosen to differentiate themselves and declare independence from Britain, not to say that they were any more or less "American" than anybody else in the Americas.

I understand the Americas are North and South, but still we all Americans.
Mexicans don't called themselves Americans, because, like I mentioned before, Italians don't call themselves Europeans instead of Italians.
Do you also know that the correct name of Mexico is:
United States of Mexico or in Spanish Estados Unidos Mexicanos.
I still don't like the word "American" to refer to a U.S citizen.
